AQVA was born in 2015 from the project of an entrepreneur from Girona to carry out the dream of returning to the city of Girona, the old pre-existing baths and the Greco-Roman tradition as it passes through the Via Augusta to enjoy an ancient tradition of ritual and liturgy. "mens sana in corpore sana", where the Tempo stops.
AQVA, the urban spa that awakens in the heart of the old quarter "barri vell", located in the first Hospital of the city of Girona XII-XVII century, a space of welcome and hospitality for citizens, foreigners and pilgrims, as denote the its four imposing arches that delimit the Space.
The archaeological excavations carried out between 2015 and 2016 in this monumental building where a Roman villa of which a clay oven (Hypocaust) of the 1st century AD is preserved, a lamp with the face of a minor god from the same period - High Imperial Roman- and you can see walls from the Roman period from the 2nd century AD next to the Via Augusta at the entrance to the founding Gerunda.
In Roman times, the thermal baths were a place of meeting, conversation and rest, where efforts were made to recover the body and purify the soul.
AQVA, following this tradition, is conceived to seek the balance between history and innovation where water, stone, light and other primary elements accompany us on a purifying and refreshing journey through the senses.
Exclusive circuit of baths in the three rooms of water at different temperatures as recorded in the Roman tradition: Frigidarium (cold), Tepidarium (warm) and calidarium (hot).
The visitor will be able to round off the experience at the Roman Baths in the space dedicated to massages and the stay is completed with the steam bath or Hamman, Pediluvium, the Salt Room (Haloteraphy) and the tea service in the Rest Room.
